American psychedelic rock band Vanilla Fudge (1966-1970) attacked with a heavy organ-based sound that predated heavy metal. Their biggest hit was their cover of The Supremes' "You Keep Me Hangin' On." After several separations, the original members reunited for a farewell tour in 2011.
