As lead vocalist with the Irish rhythm and blues band Them from 1964-1966, Van Morrison's iconic voice was first heard on "Gloria" and "Here Comes the Night," accompanied by his howling harmonica playing. He began his solo career with 1968's critically acclaimed Astral Weeks, and followed it up with Moondance in 1970 which went triple-platinum by 1996. Morrison's impact on rock music is immesurable, having influenced Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, and many others. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
