After recording and playing with Bob Dylan in 1965-1966 as Levon and the Hawks, The Band released their first record Music From Big Pink in 1968 to critical acclaim. The album included their biggest hit "The Weight," which Rolling Stone magazine ranked at #41 on their list of the Top 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Their next record, 1969's The Band, evoked the rustic small-town feel of the South with songs such as "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down." The Band's final concert was "The Last Waltz" event filmed at Winterland during 1976 by Martin Scorcese.
