Formed in San Francisco in 1982, The Dinosaurs were the biggest super group to emerge from the ashes of the psychedelic era. The group featured Peter Albin of Big Brother, John Cippolina of Quicksilver Messenger Service, Papa John Creach of Hot Tuna, Jefferson Airplane's Spencer Dryden, Barry Melton from Country Joe and the Fish, Robert Hunter of the Grateful Dead, and Merle Saunders from the Saunders-Garcia Band, adding Moby Grape's Jerry Miller and It's a Beautiful Day's David LaFlamme in the '90s. Being a touring band, they released their only studio album, Dinosaurs, in 1988.
