A founding member of the Los Angeles-based psychedelic band The Kaleidoscope, Lindley became a popular sideman and session musician due to his masterful playing of such diverse instruments as mandolin, banjo, oud, lap steel guitar, bouzouki, and many other stringed instruments. He has worked with everyone from Jackson Browne to Curtis Mayfield, Rod Stewart and Bob Dylan. Along with collaborator Ry Cooder, Lindley is one of the most unique innovators in American music. He formed and led his band El Rayo X from 1981-1983.
