One of the most popular rock bands ever, Creedence Clearwater Revival, also known as Creedence or CCR, nurtured a Mississippi Delta blues sensibility that belied their San Francisco Bay Area roots. Led by guitarist and vocalist John Fogerty, their virtual invention of swamp rock, blended with more traditional pop music, produced a string of hits which still get regular airplay around the world.
