In 1967, drummer/vocalist Buddy Miles founded The Electric Flag in Chicago with guitarist Mike Bloomfield. After the band's breakup he formed the Buddy Miles Express, whose first two albums were produced by Jimi Hendrix. Buddy had guested on Electric Ladyland, and when Hendrix formed his Band of Gypsies, Miles was asked to join. Following the Gypsies breakup, he continued to record with Hendrix and collaborated with others, including Carlos Santana and Phish.
