Best known for their 1968 #1 hit "Fire", the wild stage antics of England's Arthur Brown delighted and frightened audiences everywhere. Lowered by crane onto the stage with his helmet afire, Brown sang and danced as if possessed. With cohort Vincent Crane attacking his Hammond like an organ grinder gone mad and talented touring drummer Carl Palmer (later of Emerson, Lake & Palmer fame) pounding the skins, the band's intense sound and pyrotechnical stage shows left a lasting impression on audiences worldwide.
