Originally just the name of this late-'60s band, their lead singer Vince Furnier later adopted the name for himself and became Alice Cooper, instigator of a more theatrical and sinister heavy metal shock rock. He also ventured into concept albums, art rock, new wave and jazz, but remains best-known for his influence on visual over-the-top heavy metal performances.
